We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Environmental Specialist to join our team in Ontario.In this critical role, you will be responsible for supporting and implementing environmental programs to ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations. You will work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and community relations teams to monitor our environmental performance, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement in our sustainability practices.

- Develop, implement, and manage environmental monitoring programs for air quality, water (surface and groundwater), waste management, and biodiversity.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental permits, licenses, and legislative requirements (e.g., ECA, CEPA, Ontario Water Resources Act).
- Prepare and submit mandatory regulatory reports and applications to government agencies in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct environmental site assessments, audits, and inspections to identify risks and ensure adherence to Vale's environmental management system (ISO 14001).
- Lead spill prevention and response planning and training.
- Provide environmental guidance and training to operational staff to foster a culture of environmental awareness and accountability.
- Manage projects related to site remediation, reclamation, and closure planning.
- Analyze environmental data, track performance indicators, and prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an environmental role, preferably within the mining, heavy industrial, or consulting sectors.
- Experience with environmental monitoring, sampling protocols, and data management.
- Strong experience in writing technical reports and regulatory submissions.
- Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo., EP) or eligibility to obtain is a strong asset.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both field personnel and management.
- A valid driver's license and ability to work in both field and office settings.
