Mining Engineer

Our team in Ontario is growing, and we are seeking a dedicated and innovative Mining Engineer to join us.In this role, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing mining operations to ensure they are safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of geologists, metallurgists, and operations staff to optimize ore extraction and contribute to Vale's long-term strategic goals in Ontario.

- Develop detailed mine plans, including short and long-range production schedules.
- Design and optimize open pit and/or underground mine layouts, ventilation systems, and infrastructure.
- Conduct geotechnical and hydrogeological assessments to ensure site stability.
- Utilize advanced mining software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) for modeling and planning.
- Perform economic and risk analysis for various mining scenarios and projects.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations (OHSA, MSHA).
- Provide technical support and guidance to on-site operations teams.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mining engineering role, preferably in hard rock mining.
- Proficiency in mine design and planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, MineSight).
- Strong understanding of mine ventilation, ground control, and rock mechanics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical personnel.
